A Ranking Body Pillow
The Total Body Pillow by Coop Home Goods is the second-rated body pillow on three of the six review sites cited in Top-Rated Full Body Pillows, following the Body Pillow by Snuggle-Pedic, which leads on five of those sites. There are reasons why this body pillow is so highly ranked. They are its filling and its cover.
Shredded Memory Foam
Down pillows have long been the standard for comparing the comfort of pillows. A down pillow is soft and conforming, and it can be fluffed and shaped for a custom fit. Fiber-filled pillows tend to become lumpy, whether the fiber is cotton, wool, or polyester. But foam, whether latex or memory foam, cut or molded to shape cannot be re-shaped to fit.
Now shredded memory foam and shredded latex are used as down alternatives in pillows. Sometimes blended with fiber, shredded foam can be pinch-molded to fit, then hold that shape unless changed by the user. On Amazon, more shredded memory foam pillows are sold than shredded latex pillows.
The shredded memory foam used in the CHG Total Body Pillow is cross-cut to be extremely fine. It is not as easy to re-shape as the fine shredded memory foam in the Body Pillow by Snuggle-Pedic, and many reviewers rate it as too firm at first.
Two of the attractions of rayon from bamboo are (1) the feel and (2) the source. Rayon (reconstituted cellulose), has a silky feel and is breathable. Bamboo, a woody grass, grows quickly and can rapidly recover from clear cutting, making it more environmentally acceptable than tree wood.
Though the product descriptions do not specify woven or knit, the cover is probably knit to better conform with the memory foam. It is describe as a “cool” fabric, which comes from the silky feel and being breathable.
Inside the cover of the Coop Home Goods Total Body Pillow is a polyester liner. Both the cover and the liner are zippered so the user can adjust the loft of the pillow by taking out or adding filling. Unlike the Snuggle-Pedic Body Pillow, the blend cannot be changed unless the user buys a refill of the shredded gel-infused memory foam. The adjustability is one of the reasons for popularity of CHG’s Original Pillow and the Total Body Pillow.
Trial Period and Warranty
The Coop Home Goods Total Body Pillow is covered by a 30-day trial period, as are several other pillow brands. This is only ⅓ of the 90-day period for the Snuggle-Pedic pillows. The warranty is for 5 years, ¼ as long as Snuggle-Pedic’s 20-year warranty. Both brands are made in the USA.
Judging by the number and ratings of customer reviews, as well as the reviews themselves, the Coop Home Goods Total Body Pillow is a good quality product with a lot to offer at the same price as the Body Pillow by Snuggle-Pedic, its closest equivalent. The Snuggle-Pedic still rates higher.
As of January 19, 2018, the Coop Home Goods Total Body Pillow has fewer than 1,000 total customer reviews (996). Of these, 923 are verified customer reviews (VCRs). 79.74% of VCRS rate the CHG Body Pillow at 5 Stars, with an average rating of 4.59 (92%). For all reviews, this is 4.58 Stars.
