Screen usage is one of several factors influencing how well we sleep. Some of the others are activities, diet, health conditions, emotional state, stress, room atmosphere, sleep partner, bed, mattress, and pillow. We can have the right bed, mattress, and pillow, control the other factors, and still sabotage our sleep with bad screen device habits. At the end of the day, what we sleep on and what we do combine to shape our sleep experience.

ASL is a global organization. It began in Ireland in 2006, and is headquartered there. It has merged with like organizations in other countries, such the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America in the United States and the Asthma Society of Canada (now Asthma Canada).
American Down & Feather Council (ADFC)
The American Down & Feather Council (ADFC) is “a section of the Home Fashion Products Association (HFPA).” Its members are companies which manufacture products using down and feathers or distribute, buy/sell, or process feathers and down. ADFC itself, as a national association, is a member of the International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB), and its members have IDFB membership through ADFC.
International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB)
Based in Bregenz, Austria, the International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB) is “the global association of the down and feather industry.” As such, it promotes the use of down and feathers in home products (bedding), apparel, and sporting gear.
Responsible Down Standard (RDS)
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS), a certification standard for down and feathers, is part of the Textile Exchange (TE), a standards and certification organization concerned with fibers and fabrics used by consumers. As such, all firms seeking RDS certification must first become members of TE, meeting its overall standards.
Textile Exchange
Textile Exchange (TE) was organized and incorporated in 2002 in Texas as the Organic Exchange. Its first focus was on organic cotton in a state where cotton is an important crop. With public concern over the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in producing widely-used fibers, several suppliers were promoting their cotton as “organic.” Textile mills, apparel manufacturers, retailers, and consumers needed to know if organic claims were genuine.
